Walmart is Invested in Employee Resilience

Five years ago, faced with lagging sales and a company that CEO Doug McMillon described as “in a bit of a rut.”, Walmart decided to invest in creating a more adaptable workforce.  McMillon recognized that to improve the customer experience, he needed employees that were always ready to learn and confident managing change, “That kind of learning builds resilience, both economic and emotional, that can prepare his workforce for whatever comes next.”  His vision that a resilient workforce can directly impact the bottom line has paid off.  Since 2015, Walmart’s stock value has increased by 85% with consistent same-store sales growth over the last two years.
